Many holiday resorts are easily accessable and are frequently over crowded. Tenerife is popular with Europeans but La Gomera, situated a thirty-five minute ferry journey from Tenerife, is less well known and more exclusive.
It is recommended to book a charter flight from your local airport to Reina Sofia airport in the southern part of Tenerife island.. The flight takes from four to five hours depending upon your place of origin. Upon arrival, take a taxi to the ferry port Los Cristianos. It takes about twenty minutes for the taxi and to buy the ferry ticket, to San Sebastian, the capital of La Gomera. The ferry operators provide mobile containers for heavy luggage. These are brought to La Gomera in the ferry car deck. You should keep with you a handbag containing valuable items.
There are three ferry companies:
Fred Olsen Express
Naviera Armas
Garajonay Express

The journey from Tenerife to La Gomera lasts from thirty-five minutes to one hour, depending on the ferry operator. We have always got the current timetable of the ferries and can transmit it on request by email to our guests, before starting the trip.
At San Sebastian visitors may pick up their hire car or come by taxi to Hermigua. The drive takes about twenty-five minutes.
For visitors wishing to avoid a sea voyage or are unable to fly direct to Tenerife-South, exists another possibility to come to La Gomera. There is a small airport in the south of La Gomera which has inter island connecting flights to Gran Canaria and Tenerife-North. The road journey from the airfield to Hermigua takes about one hour.
La Gomera is best explored on foot or mountain bike, but a hire car is useful to visit the more remote parts of the island, because Taxis are expensive and to use the bus is a bit difficult and wastes time. We offer our help, if you would like to hire a car.
Whilst we hope, that you will bring with you a bit of patience and humour, we can reassure you, that we will do our upmost to make your stay a very happy experience.
